London Week Of Action
London Week Of Action 2007
London Week Of Action 2007 - 9th - 13th July 2007
London Week Of Action 2006 - 5th - 9th June 2006
This years London Week of Action on Empty Property is taking place 5 - 9 June (again linked with London Sustainability Weeks, www.lsw2006.org)
For those unfamiliar with London Week, this is a special week dedicated to opening up more homes, raising awareness of empty homes and is one important element of our continued campaign to combat empty and wasted property in the capital.
We will be stepping up our efforts this week as part of a Londonwide challenge to fill up the empty properties and we want everyone in LEPOF to take part. Boroughs could relaunch their Empty Property Strategy, publicize a recently completed scheme or arrange some other publicity stunt.
We are about to embark on a major new initiative at the Empty Homes Agency, linking empty property work with the green construction sector and increasing London's capacity for environmentally sustainable building refurbishment. We will be launching this new initiative Recycling London's Empty Homes during London week.
Of course this isn't all we are doing at the Empty Homes Agency during the week. We hope to work with lots of you to make sure that more properties are returned to use. For a taste of what London Week is all about, see what has happened in previous year below.
Who is going to be first to organise a big event? Please keep us informed about your plans and how we can link with you!

London Week Of Action 2005 - 6th - 10th June 2005
The 5th annual London Week Of Action, takes place this year during June 6th -10th. The Week of Action is a call to all London Boroughs, housing campaigns and residents to join together and organize a week of action.
The week will see the Empty Homes Agency unite with London's 33 Boroughs to highlight the waste of empty property throughout the capital and raise the profile of those working to tackle the problem. London residents and landlords are being actively encouraged to contact the London Empty Property Hotline to either report empty property or for information about leasing property for social housing.
This year's London Week of Action is linked with London Sustainability Weeks (June 5th -19th, www.lsw2005.org) and is set to be the biggest London Week of Action ever!
Key messages for the week of action:
- London's 36, 549 long term empty homes are a disgrace.
- London residents can make a difference by reporting empty homes.

EHA Joint Event with the GLA / ALG - This year the Empty Homes Agency are opening the week with a joint event with the Greater London Authority / Association of London Government on the Monday 11th October 2004. At the event we will be launching a new report -
"Unlocking the potential of London's empty homes." This report highlights excellent work being undertaken by the Boroughs in London. It also offers a charter for all local authorities on empty homes, which should serve as a checklist for action on empty homes. The Mayor will also be speaking along with the rest of the speaker line-up.
Highlighting Good Practice - We will also be opening a recent conversion in Beaulieu Heights in Croydon on Thursday 14th October 2004 @ 1pm which is one of our featured case studies in our good practice guide being launched on Monday 11th October 2004.
